DOOR SILL PROTECTION

Door sill protection film that stops the scuffs nobody notices until it is too late

WHY IT MATTERS

Why you need door sill protection

The door sill is the painted ledge you step over every time you get into the car. It is one of the few painted surfaces on a vehicle that people physically touch, and they touch it with the dirtiest thing they own: the sole of a shoe.

Damage builds slowly enough that most owners never notice it happening. Grit carried in on shoes acts as an abrasive, heels catch the edge, and bags and gear get dragged across the ledge on the way in. Six months later there is a band of fine scratches along the sill, and on darker colours it stands out every time the door opens.

It is also the first thing a buyer sees. Opening the door is one of the first things anyone does when inspecting a car, and a scuffed sill reads as a vehicle that has been used hard, regardless of how good the rest of the paint looks.

Where the damage comes from

Four everyday sources, none of which you can realistically avoid.

Shoes and heels

Every entry drags a sole across the ledge. Heels and work boots catch the outer edge hardest, which is why wear usually starts there.

Grit and sand

Loose grit trapped in a shoe tread turns each step into light sanding. It is the abrasive, not the shoe, that does most of the damage.

Bags and gear

Toolboxes, shopping, prams and sports gear all get slid across the sill rather than lifted over it.

Child seats and kids

Family cars take the worst of it. Climbing feet land squarely on the sill, several times a day, for years.

THE FILM

Our durable protection film

The same premium urethane film we fit to bonnets and bumpers, cut to the shape of your sill and applied so the edges disappear into the panel gaps.

Built to take abrasion

A thick urethane layer that absorbs the scuffing and grit a painted sill cannot. The film wears instead of your clear coat.

Self-healing surface

Light marks and scuffing fade with warmth from the sun rather than settling in, so the sill keeps looking clean between washes.

Virtually invisible

Clear film keeps your colour true, so the sill looks untouched rather than covered. Nothing about it reads as an add-on.

Clear or satin

Clear gloss for a factory look, or satin where the surrounding trim is matte and a gloss finish would stand out.

Cut to your vehicle

Film is cut to the sill shape on your make and model, so it follows the contour and the edges tuck out of sight.

Removable later

Taken off by a trained installer when it has done its work, leaving the factory paint underneath as it was.

It is the same film used across our Paint Protection Film work. Many owners add sills to a front-end package, since the car is already in the studio and the sills are quick to do alongside it.

THE INSTALL

The installation process

Short, precise work done indoors. Most sill jobs are finished the same day, and many while you wait.

1

Inspect the sills

We check each sill for existing scratches, chips and any previous repair work. Film is clear, so anything already there stays visible underneath and is worth addressing first.

2

Clean and decontaminate

Sills collect road film, grit and shoe polish more than any other painted area. Each one is washed, decontaminated and dried so the film has a sound surface to bond to.

3

Fit the film

Film cut to your sill shape is laid, worked into the contour and squeegeed out, with the edges tucked into the panel gap so no line sits where a shoe will catch it.

4

Inspect and hand over

Every sill is checked in good light, then we walk you through the short cure period and how to wash the car afterwards.

COVERAGE

Pricing for door sill protection

Sill work is quoted per vehicle rather than off a fixed list, because sill shape and condition differ from car to car. Compare the three levels of coverage, then send us your make and model.

What moves the price: the number of sills, the shape and length of the sill on your model, whether the existing paint needs attention before film goes on, and whether you add the loading edge. Send through your make and model and we will come back with a tailored quote, with no obligation.
